ESD Induction training for new employees
Induction training tends to be intensive because a large amount of information has to be imparted in a short time to get new employees working as soon as possible. This is reality of industrial life!
The challenge at induction is to ensure that the new employees retain the vital few pieces of information that are critical to protecting the product.
The message, like a good advertisement, needs to be short and specific.
- Parts can be easily damaged just by handling them.
- Parts may be injured rather than killed. Then products may fail after the customer receives them.
- Simple precautions must be followed at all times.
a) Wear shoes/straps, coats at all times in EPA
b) Test footwear to ensure you are safe
c) When seated wear a wrist strap.
d) Minimise the amount of contact with sensitive parts by handling boards by the edge.
In our experience any more that these simple messages tends to get forgotten as the new employee tries to grasp the complexities of a new job, new environment, new company and new colleagues.
We would suggest a refresher course after a month which can answer any questions new employees have.
