Testing ESD Floors

Testing static floors can be more complex than expected.

The test outlined in the standards is electrical resistance in Ω at a specific voltage. (10v or 100v in electronics, 500v in ATEX environments).

Depending on the environments and the applicable standard upper limits for conductive floors can be 1 GΩ and 1,000 GΩ for dissipative floors.

In semiconductor environments the step voltage generated as employees walk across a floor  may need to be measured.
